The Large Room City Hall Waterford
The Large Room
The Large Room was originally designed as a classic eighteenth-century ballroom with lofty ceiling, decorative stucco work, crystal chandeliers, a musicians gallery and well proportioned windows. It evoked the grandeur and elegant living of the gentry and wealthy merchant classes of Georgian Waterford. One of the earliest references to the ballroom was in 1792 when the mayor hosted a ball to raise funds to provide food and fuel for the poor of the city.
Most performances take place in the acoustically excellent Large Room, City Hall, Waterford which houses Waterford Music’s own Steinway Model C. We occasionally hold concerts in Garter Lane Arts Centre or the Edmund Rice Centre
