David Power, Marja Gaynor and John Walsh
Garter Lane Arts Centre • Waterford

David Power, one of Ireland’s leading uilleann pipers, is collaborating with flamenco guitarist John Walsh and baroque violinist Marja Gaynor to bring you an evening of lively traditional dance music, from the 17th century to the present day. You can expect many delightful surprises, as their programme is unique to every concert they deliver.
David Power is an uillean pipe soloist, but also collaborates with a range of musicians, such as fiddler Martin Hayes, Camerata Kilkenny, the ConTempo Quartet and organist/harpsichordist Malcolm Proud. Marja Gaynor is originally from Finland, but now based in Cork, and is in demand as a soloist and with ensembles such as the Solas Quartet and Camerata Kilkenny. She is best known for arranging and playing the strings for Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova’s Oscar winning song “Falling Slowly.”
John Walsh is a renowned flamenco guitarist and composer, who performed at the prestigious Lucia Guitar Festival in Algericas, Spain in 2015 and also performed for President Michael D Higgins. John was the only guitarist selected for the 2009 Musician of the Future concert at the National Concert Hall.
