Francisco Fullana & Alba Ventura
Garter Lane Arts Centre. 5 O’Connell Street Waterford
Waterford Music is once again collaborating with Music Network to showcase international chamber music talent in Waterford. Spanish musicians Francisco Fullana (violin) and Alba Ventura (piano) will perform a programme of timeless chamber classics and Spanish and Catalan favourites, bringing much needed sunshine in the depths of winter.
The duo will play soothing, classic pieces from Bach and Mozart and vibrant pieces by the Spanish violinist Pablo de Sarasate. The evocative Sonata Española by Joaquin Turina will bring much needed sunshine in the depths of winter, and you’ll also have a chance to hear new music from Irish composer Grainne Mulvey, a Music Network commission.
Francisco Fullana is a renowned soloist who has performed with orchestras and ensembles around the world including the Münchner Rundfunkorchester and the Argentinian National Orchestra. He won first prize in Japan’s Munetsugu Angel Violin Competition in 2015. Alba Ventura, from Barcelona, made her debut as a concert soloist at the age of thirteen and is a former ECHO (European Concert Hall Organisation) Rising Star. She has performed internationally as a soloist in prestigious concert halls including Wigmore Hall and St Martin-in-the-Fields.
