Frasier Hickland & Éadaoin Hassett

Belfast based pianist Frasier Hickland and up and coming soprano Éadaoin Hassett have come together to stage a concert straight from the land of dreams. They have put together a repertoire of music inspired by dreams, entitled Dream Valley. You will hear music by Debussy, Brahms, Schumann… and much more.

About the Performers

Frasier Hickland is an internationally acclaimed pianist and répétiteur. As well as performing in Europe’s most prestigious concert halls and opera houses, he also has strong links with the South East. He has won the Danone Young Outstanding Artist Award at Wexford Festival Opera and the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival Bursary Award. Frasier will also feature in this year’s Wexford Festival Opera, in a performance of Caruso’s ‘The First Festival.’

Éadaoin Hassett is a student at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and has already built an impressive track record in performing soprano repertoire. Her recent professional engagements include a production of Purcell’s ‘The Fairy Queen’ with Sligo Baroque and Irish National Opera’s production of Wagner’s ‘The Flying Dutchman’ Éadaoin is currently a Wexford Factory Artist, and will collaborate with Frasier in the Wexford Festival Opera performance of Caruso’s ‘The First Festival.’

Concert Programme

We begin the journey in Ireland with an aria from Balfe’s opera ‘The Bohemian Girl’, and continue through America with songs by Foster and Rodgers and Hammerstein, and the English art songs of Bridge, Quilter and Coates. Then we move to the continent with Tosti (Italy), Liszt (Hungary) and the German romanticism of Schumann, Brahms and Strauss. After a brief visit to Grieg’s Norway, we delve into the atmospheric world of French melodies, with music by Bachelet, Debussy and Hahn.
